    Hi safda mahmood

Have you got the chance to review the AI Answer suggestions? If you haven't already, please give those a try. This behaviour typically points to a change in Edge’s PDF viewer rather than a general system issue.

In addition to points already covered, you can try the following quick checks:

    • Paste using Ctrl + Shift + V (plain text) or paste via Notepad first, as Word content can include hidden formatting that the PDF form rejects
    • Test the same PDF in another browser or Adobe Reader to confirm whether it’s Edge‑specific
    • Ensure Edge is fully updated, as recent updates to the PDF viewer have changed editing behaviour
    • If the issue started after an update, try toggling the PDF viewer setting via edge://flags and restarting Edge

Feel free to update here if anything comes up!

Some PDFs - and web forms - don't allow copy and paste as a security measure. They insist that you actually type into the form.

In Edge on Windows 10, copy/paste into web apps and PDF viewers depends on browser clipboard permissions. If pasting from Word into a PDF in Edge suddenly stopped working while typing still works, clipboard access is likely blocked.

Enable clipboard access for Office/Edge as follows:

    1. In Edge, open the site where the PDF is loaded (for example, Office.com or SharePoint/OneDrive if applicable).
    2. Select the Lock icon / View site information button in the address bar.
    3. Under Permission for this site, locate Clipboard.
    4. Change the setting to Allow.
    5. Close and reopen the PDF in Edge and try copying from Word and pasting again.

If using Chrome instead of Edge, a similar setting exists under View site information → Clipboard, which must be turned on for Office.com apps.

If clipboard access is blocked at the browser level, copy/paste from Word into PDFs or other Office for the web surfaces will fail even though typing still works.
