Microsoft Edge not displaying electricity bill details on checkgepcobill.pk

Hello,

I am trying to access my electricity bill details on checkgepcobill.pk using Microsoft Edge, but the bill information is not being displayed. The website loads correctly, but when I enter my GEPCO reference number and click "Check Bill", the page refreshes but does not show any bill details.

I have already tried the following steps:

  • Cleared cache and cookies in Edge
  • Disabled extensions and ad-blocker
  • Turned off tracking prevention in Edge settings
  • Tried InPrivate mode

The strange thing is that checkgepcobill.pk works perfectly fine on Chrome and Firefox — only Microsoft Edge has this issue.

Can someone help me troubleshoot this? Is this a known Edge compatibility issue with Pakistani utility websites?

Here is the link: https://checkgepcobill.pk/

Thank you in advance!

Hello randy,

I think when a site loads fine in Chrome and Firefox but not in Edge after you've already cleared cache/cookies, disabled extensions, turned off tracking prevention, and tried InPrivate, it tends to point more toward something on the site's end than something we can fix from Edge.

A couple of things still might be worth a quick try on the Edge side:

  • Go to edge://settings/content/cookies > Allow > Add, and add [*.]checkgepcobill.pk so the site is explicitly whitelisted for cookies and site data. Sometimes that helps if Edge is silently blocking storage access for that domain.
  • On the site, press F12 to open DevTools, switch to the Console tab, then click Check Bill again. If anything's being blocked (storage access, CORS, mixed content, a script error), it'll usually show up there in red and gives a better idea of what the page is actually choking on.

If neither of those changes anything, it probably is a compatibility issue with how the GEPCO site renders in Edge specifically — in which case the realistic path is to report it to GEPCO so they can look at why the bill page doesn't render in Edge. In the meantime, Chrome or Firefox is fine to use for checking the bill.

This behavior is consistent with Microsoft Edge blocking or interfering with parts of the page that load or display the bill details, even when tracking prevention is turned off.

Try the following Edge-specific steps:

  1. Check if Edge is blocking trackers or storage for the site
    • Open the site in Edge.
    • Select the page info icon (lock or info) on the left side of the address bar.
    • Check whether any trackers or storage access are being blocked for that page. If so, temporarily disable tracking prevention for that site from the page info flyout and reload the page.
  2. Verify tracking prevention level and blocked trackers
    • Go to edge://settings/privacy.
    • Under Tracking prevention, confirm the level is Balanced or Basic (not Strict), or temporarily turn off Enable tracking prevention.
    • In Blocked trackers, see if anything related to the billing site or its embedded services is being blocked and then test the site again.
  3. Use DevTools to see if storage or requests are blocked
    • Press F12 to open DevTools, then open the Console.
    • Clear cookies and other site data for the site, refresh the page, enter the reference number, and click Check Bill.
    • Look for messages like Tracking Prevention blocked access to storage for <URL> or blocked resource loads. If such messages appear for the billing site or its scripts, tracking prevention or cookie blocking is likely causing the issue.
  4. Allow cookies and storage for the site
    • Go to edge://settings/content/cookies.
    • Add the billing site’s domain to Allow so it can use cookies and other storage.
    • Reload the site and try again.
  5. Repair Microsoft Edge (if the issue persists across many sites)
    • Close Edge for all users.
    • On Windows 11, go to Start > Settings > Apps > Installed apps.
    • Select Microsoft Edge > Modify > Yes and then choose Repair. This keeps browser data and settings but can fix corrupted components that might affect site compatibility.

If the site continues to work in Chrome/Firefox but not in Edge even after these steps, it is likely a site compatibility issue with Edge’s tracking prevention or storage handling. In that case, use the Settings and more > Help and feedback > Send feedback option in Edge while reproducing the problem so the Edge team can investigate.
