Change Management Workflow option Grayed Out

In Unified Catalog under Process Automation Workflows while creating the new workflow

I can see Change Management Option is grayed out.

Which Azure service or portal blade are you using? (“Unified Catalog” isn’t a standard name in Defender for Cloud or Service Manager, so a screenshot or exact navigation path would help.)

What’s your user role and permissions on the subscription/resource? Are you an Owner/Contributor, or using a custom role?

Are you on a preview feature or private preview? Sometimes certain workflow categories (like Change Management) only show up once you opt in.

Does this issue happen for all users in your tenant, or just your account?

Have you tried in another region or subscription to rule out a regional rollout delay?

Change Management is not an available workflow category in Microsoft Purview Unified Catalog. Unified Catalog workflows support only these categories:

Data product access (for granting access to data products)
Catalog curation (for publishing data products and glossary terms, via Data product publish or Term publish workflow types)

Because only these workflow categories are supported, any “Change Management” option in the workflow UI will appear unavailable or grayed out and cannot be enabled.

To create workflows in Unified Catalog, use one of the supported categories instead:

For access approvals: choose Workflow category = Data product access.
For publish approvals: choose Workflow category = Catalog curation, then select Workflow type = Data product publish or Term publish.
