Xbox gift card

Redeemed Xbox or Microsoft gift cards add money to the Microsoft account balance, not directly to an “Xbox wallet” view. That balance can then be used across Microsoft Store online, on Windows, and on Xbox for eligible purchases.

To verify and use the redeemed balance:

1. Sign in with the same Microsoft account that was used to redeem the codes.
2. Go to the Microsoft account billing/payment area (for example, the Redeem or account dashboard pages mentioned in the documentation) and confirm that the $25 and $10 gift cards show as redeemed to this account.
3. Check the Microsoft account balance in the same billing/payment section. Once a gift card is redeemed, “the full amount will be added to your Microsoft account and can be used to buy movies, games, in-app purchases, and physical goods” and “to purchase an Xbox-related subscription, but not a Microsoft 365 subscription.”
4. On the Xbox console, make sure it is signed in with that same Microsoft account. Purchases on a different Xbox profile or Microsoft account will not see this balance.
5. When buying something on Xbox or Microsoft Store, choose the Microsoft account balance as the payment method if prompted.

If the balance still does not appear even though the cards show as redeemed on the billing page, contact Microsoft Customer Support as the gift card terms direct for “questions or disputes regarding your gift card purchases, access and use of your account balance, [or] issues with Products purchased using your account balance.”

Note that once a gift card is redeemed to a Microsoft account, it cannot be refunded or moved to another account except where required by law.
