My son had changed my e-mail address by mistake via his XBox. I need to change name back to original but am unable to do so. Can anyone advise please?

If the email address on the Microsoft account was changed (for example, via Xbox), that means the sign-in alias for the account was modified. To change it back (or adjust it):

    1. Go to the Microsoft account alias management page and sign in: https://account.live.com/names/manage
    2. Under Your info, review the list of email addresses and phone numbers (aliases) on the account.
    3. To restore or adjust sign-in details:
      • Select Add email to add back the original address, if it is still available.
      • Select Remove next to any alias that should no longer be used.
    4. Choose which alias should be primary for sign-in and communication.

If the original Hotmail/Outlook address was removed as an alias from the account and it is from a Microsoft domain (such as @hotmail.com, @outlook.com, @live.com, @msn.com), it cannot be re‑attached to any Microsoft account once deleted, and the mailbox and its emails cannot be restored.

If sign-in is no longer possible at all, use the account recovery flow:

    1. Go to the Recover your account page: https://account.live.com/password/reset
    2. Enter the email, phone, or Skype name used for the account and follow the verification steps to regain access.

If recovery fails or the username is not recognized, contact support using the Contact support option from the recovery article.
