Powerpoint: Cameo for one slide and regular recording for the rest

Is it possible to have Cameo and regular recording without Cameo for the remaining slides? I have used Cameo for the first slide in a Powerpoint presentation, but then I don't want Cameo for the rest. There seems no way to return to a regular recording mode.

Based on your sharing, the answer is yes, you can have Cameo on just the first slide and do regular recording (audio-only) for the rest since PowerPoint treats Cameo as a camera setting while recording.

In PowerPoint for Mac, inserting a cameo on first slide will add the cameo to all slides when you record even if you don't add cameo to the remain slides except the first one. However, as Cameo is considered as a camera setting while recording, so starting from slide 2, you can turn the Camera OFF and still leave the Microphone ON then continue recording slide 2 onward as regular audio-only recording.

    Yes. Cameo can be used on just one (or a few) slides and standard recording used on the rest.

    Use this workflow:

    1. On the slide where Cameo is needed:
      • Insert Cameo: Insert > Cameo, then turn on the camera in the placeholder and format it as desired.
      • Record that slide using the Record tab / Recording Studio.
    2. On the remaining slides where Cameo is not wanted:
      • Do not insert Cameo on those slides.
      • Record as usual from the Record tab. The recording tools work per slide; if a slide has no Cameo object, it will just record audio (and any ink/laser) as a regular narration.
    3. If Cameo was added to a slide and needs to be removed or converted back to a standard recording:
      • Go to the Record tab.
      • Use Clear Recording to remove narration from that slide (or all slides) if needed.
      • Use Reset to Cameo only when wanting to keep the camera style but re-take the video; otherwise, delete the Cameo object from that slide so subsequent recording there is audio-only.

    While PowerPoint for Windows has a command Insert>Cameo>This Slide to insert a cameo to just one slide, PowerPoint for Mac is not able to do that. Inserting a cameo on one slide adds the cameo to all slides when you record.

    A workaround is to add the cameo to a slide, record, then delete the cameos on all slides except the first.
