Would really appreciate any clear help, I am besides myself.

I am been trying to access my Microsoft 365 personal account since last Thursday since having the motherboard on my laptop replaced.

I thought I inputted correct password, did not recognise, reset it and now does not recognise reset, and now no verification codes are being issued to my email or alternative email.

I am using an alternative laptop at the moment.

i just need to get logged into my primary email address to obtain my Microsoft 365 48 digit Recovery Key to input into the BitLocker of my mended laptop.

Chat bot has just taken me around in circles to follow what I have already done without any success whatsoever.

is there anyone who can help PLEASE 🙏

For a personal Microsoft account, access and recovery are fully automated and must follow the standard flows; support agents and forum moderators cannot manually unlock the account, send verification codes, or bypass security.

Given the situation described (password not recognized, reset attempts, and no verification codes arriving on an alternate laptop), the only supported paths are:

    1. Use the Sign-in Helper first
    • Go to the Microsoft account Sign-in Helper tool: Sign-in helper or Sign-in Helper depending on entry point.
    • This tool identifies most sign-in issues and guides through the appropriate recovery path.
    1. If verification codes are not arriving
    • Verification codes can fail to arrive for various reasons (delivery issues, blocks, etc.).
    • If codes still do not arrive, another verification method must be chosen, or it is necessary to wait until access to the registered phone/email is possible.
    • To protect the account, support agents are not allowed to send verification codes or change account details.
    1. Use the Microsoft account recovery form
    • If the Sign-in Helper directs to account recovery, use the Account recovery form from a device and location previously used to sign in (for example, the usual home network and device, if possible). This increases the chance the system recognizes the sign-in as trustworthy.
    • The recovery form is here: Account recovery form.
    • A working email address that can be accessed is required; Microsoft uses this only to send information about the recovery request.
    • Microsoft reviews the form and responds within about 24 hours.
    1. Observe limits and lockouts
    • After too many failed sign-in or verification attempts, Microsoft may temporarily block further attempts to protect the account.
    • When rate limits or blocks are hit (for password resets, verification codes, or recovery forms), the only option is to wait out the lockout period (often about 24 hours) before trying again.
    • Repeated attempts during the lockout can reset the timer, so it is important not to keep retrying during that period.
    1. Two-step verification and limitations
    • If two-step verification (2FA) is turned on and none of the registered verification methods (phone, email, authenticator, etc.) can be accessed, Microsoft cannot override this.
    • The recovery form cannot bypass 2FA; this is by design to protect the account and its contents.
    1. BitLocker recovery key dependency
    • For a BitLocker-protected device that stores the recovery key in a Microsoft account, the key can only be retrieved after successfully signing in to that Microsoft account.
    • If the account cannot be recovered using the automated methods above, there is no supported way for Microsoft or forum moderators to provide the BitLocker recovery key.
    1. If further technical help is needed (beyond account recovery)
    • For general technical support (not for bypassing account security), use Contact Microsoft Support, enter the problem, and select Get Help. If needed, select Contact Support to be routed to available options.

In summary, to regain access and retrieve the BitLocker recovery key, it is necessary to:

    1. Run the Sign-in Helper, 2) use the account recovery form from a familiar device/location with a working contact email, and 3) respect any lockout periods before retrying. If two-step verification methods are all inaccessible, Microsoft cannot provide manual overrides or the BitLocker key.
