The AZ-500 certification itself cannot be “transferred” between separate Microsoft Learn profiles. Instead, access must be restored by recovering or linking the original account that owns the certification.
Use these steps:
- Recover access to the original (corporate) Learn login, if possible
- Microsoft Learn does not manage login accounts; ownership is verified only through the Microsoft account (personal or work/school) used to sign in.
- To regain access to a personal Microsoft account, use the standard Microsoft account recovery options described in Manage account.
- To regain access to a work or school account, contact the previous employer’s or school’s IT administrator. Microsoft cannot assist with recovery of work or school accounts.
- If access to the old work account is restored
- Sign in to Microsoft Learn with that work account.
- Go to your Learn profile settings: https://learn.microsoft.com/en-us/users/me/settings.
- Use Add login account to add a personal Microsoft account (MSA) to the same Learn profile so that the certifications (including AZ-500) remain associated with that single profile even if work account access is later lost.
- After adding the personal account, the same unified Learn profile (and its certifications) will be accessible when signing in with the personal account.
- If the work account cannot be recovered and no personal account was added previously
- Access to that Learn profile and its data (including certifications) is lost. Microsoft Credentials Support cannot transfer or restore the contents of a Learn profile that cannot be accessed.
- A new Microsoft Learn profile must be used going forward, and certifications from the inaccessible profile cannot be reattached.
To avoid similar issues in the future, always add a personal Microsoft account to the Learn profile and use it as the primary login, then add work or school accounts as secondary logins.
