Legacy MCPD certifications and the old Certification Profile (with MCID and certification numbers) have been retired and migrated into Microsoft Learn profiles. Recovery or movement of those certifications now goes through the Microsoft Credentials support channels, not via the old certification number alone.

Based on the available information, the supported path is:

    1. Try to access or locate the original Learn/Certification profile
      • Go to the Learn profile sign-in page: your Learn profile.
      • Sign in with any personal, work, or school Microsoft accounts that might have been used at college time.
      • After signing in, select Credentials → Certifications and check whether the MCPD certifications appear.
    2. If multiple Learn profiles exist, request a merge
      • If certifications are found under a different account than the one intended for long‑term use, a profile merge can consolidate them:
        • Sign in to the Learn profile that should become the main one.
        • In login account management, choose Add login account and add the other account.
        • If that account is associated with another Learn profile, this triggers a merge and brings all credentials and transcripts into the signed‑in profile. This merge cannot be undone and is only allowed if there is at most one personal Microsoft login account across the profiles.
    3. If the original account cannot be accessed
      • Access to a Learn profile requires being able to sign in with at least one valid login account. Microsoft Credentials Support cannot recover personal Microsoft accounts or transfer contents from a Learn profile that cannot be accessed.
      • If the issue is that the Microsoft account username or password is forgotten or not working, use the self‑service Microsoft account recovery options listed under Get help with your Microsoft account (for example, “Forgotten your Microsoft account username” or “Reset a forgotten Microsoft Account Password”).
      • If those self‑service options fail, further help for the Microsoft account itself is only available through the Microsoft Account Help self‑service; Credentials Support cannot override this.
    4. Contact Microsoft Credentials Support for certification/profile issues
      • For issues like missing certifications in a Learn profile, uncertainty about which profile holds the MCPD, or help with profile merge scenarios, contact the dedicated credentials support team:
        • Use the guidance under How to contact support for Microsoft Certifications and Microsoft Certification Exams and select Credentials Support for “all other Microsoft Certification issues.”
      • When contacting them, provide:
        • Full legal name as it appeared on the old MCPD certificates.
        • Any email addresses that might have been used.
        • Certification number(s) from the printed/XPS certificates.
      • The support team can investigate which Learn profile holds the legacy certifications and advise whether they can be surfaced or associated with the active profile, subject to the constraints above.
    5. Be aware of legacy and retirement limitations
      • Some older certifications have aged out of the program and no longer appear in customer Learn profiles. Even if they are not visible, support can confirm status and explain what, if anything, can still be shown or shared.

In summary, use Microsoft account self‑service to regain access to any possible old accounts, then either merge profiles or, if that is not possible, work with Microsoft Credentials Support using the certification numbers and personal details as evidence. Direct transfer from an inaccessible profile is not supported.
