How to identify lost business user name to pay subscription

Hello

My company has been invoiced for an annual subscription to Visio 2 but I have mislaid details of my business user name when purchasing the original subscription. The invoice and chaser emails have gone to an email id that I have used for a different subscription. I can't pay/cancel the subscription as I can't reset the password as I don't know the business user name. I can't try and understand the business user name by looking in Visio 2 as it was installed on an old pc which is now broken. What do I do?

    Hi Kevin Gregory

Based on the information provided, it appears that your Visio Plan 2 subscription was likely set up using a Microsoft 365 business (work) account that was automatically created during the purchase process. This account is separate from your personal email address, even if billing notifications are sent to that email. As a result, not knowing the associated username is preventing you from accessing or managing the subscription.

    Please try the following steps:

    • Attempt to recover the username by going to https://login.microsoftonline.com and selecting “Can’t access your account?”. From there, use the username recovery option and enter the email address that is receiving the invoice. This may help identify the associated business account.
    • Review any invoice or billing emails carefully. Sometimes these messages include the tenant's name (for example, something ending in “onmicrosoft.com”) or partial account details that can help you recognize the original username.

If you are still unable to locate or recover the account, I recommend contact Microsoft Support directly. This type of issue requires verification of ownership before any account details can be shared or changes can be made.

More details on how to get help from Microsoft 365 support can be found here: Get support - Microsoft 365 admin | Microsoft Learn

When reaching out, be prepared to provide the following information:

    • Invoice number
    • Billing email address
    • Payment details (such as the last four digits of the card used)
    • Any company or organization name used during purchase

Microsoft Support will be able to locate the subscription, identify the associated account, and assist you with regaining access or cancelling the subscription if needed.
