A cloud-based identity and access management service for securing user authentication and resource access
The error interaction_required: AADSTS5000225: This tenant has been blocked due to inactivity indicates that the Microsoft Entra tenant associated with the account has been marked inactive and sign-ins are blocked.
To reactivate the tenant and restore access:
- Confirm the tenant is still within the 20‑day reactivation window
- Tenants that are blocked due to inactivity can be reactivated only within 20 days of entering the inactive state.
- After 20 days, the tenant is deleted and cannot be recovered.
- Have a tenant administrator contact Microsoft support
- A tenant admin must contact Microsoft to request reactivation.
- Use the global support phone numbers listed in the documentation to open a support case.
- Once a case is opened, do not submit additional assistance requests for the same issue; wait for the decision on the existing case.
- If the tenant will not be reactivated
- If there is no plan to reactivate, the tenant will be deleted after 20 days in the inaccessible state and will not be recoverable.
- Review Microsoft’s data protection policies to understand what happens to data when the tenant is deleted.
If the tenant has already passed the 20‑day window and is deleted, a new tenant must be created and configured, as the original one cannot be restored.
