The error AADSTS5000225: This tenant has been blocked due to inactivity means the Microsoft Entra ID/Azure tenant linked to the account has been marked inactive and blocked.

To reactivate the tenant so it can be used again (for example, by services like Credentials Support):

    1. Determine whether the tenant is still within the reactivation window:
      • Tenants blocked due to inactivity can be reactivated only within 20 days of becoming inaccessible.
      • After 20 days in this state, the tenant is permanently deleted and can’t be recovered.
    2. If it has been less than 20 days since the tenant was blocked:
      • A tenant administrator must contact Microsoft support to request reactivation.
      • Use the global customer service phone numbers listed in Microsoft support to open a case with the Data Protection/Support team and request that the inactive tenant be reactivated.
      • Don’t open multiple requests for the same issue; wait for the decision on the existing case.
    3. If the tenant has been blocked for more than 20 days:
      • The tenant is deleted and can’t be restored. In that case, the path forward is to work with Microsoft 365/Azure support to regain access to services (for example, by creating or using another tenant associated with the account) and then retry the Microsoft Learn/Credentials Support actions.

If access to the tenant is completely lost (no working global admin account), recovery still must go through Microsoft support. The Data Protection team can help reset an admin account or restore access when ownership can be verified.
