Can't login to my personal Azure account.

I have the issue where I cannot log in to my personal Azure account. This is a huge problem as I am currently getting billed every month for it. I'm basically copying the text from another post because it describes exactly what I am experiencing:

Azure.com has locked me out entirely because I use a personal account to get in. But the Authenticator is apparently different than the one on my device. The codes on my authenticator for my personal account are 8 digits, and the ones accepted by Azure MFA are fewer digits. Also, sending a request to my authenticator from the login flow does nothing. There is no other way for me to get support on this, since I can't log a ticket until I log in. :( And this Azure account is NOT associated with my work. Every single thing around the Azure login seems to be geared towards work accounts.

I'm the only Global Administrator in the tenant. Help would be greatly appreciated.

For a personal Microsoft account used as the only Global Administrator in an Azure tenant, and where Microsoft Authenticator is out of sync (8‑digit codes in the app vs. 6‑digit codes requested by Azure, no push notifications, and no alternative verification options), the multi‑factor authentication (MFA) profile is likely stuck and cannot be fixed self‑service.

From similar resolved cases, there are two main resolution paths depending on whether there is another Global Administrator in the tenant:

    1. If there is another Global Administrator in the tenant
That admin can reset MFA for the locked‑out account so it can re‑register MFA:
      1. Sign in to the Microsoft Entra admin center with another Global Administrator account.
      2. Go to Identity → Users → All users.
      3. Select the affected user (the personal account that is locked out).
      4. Open Authentication methods.
      5. At the top, select Require re‑register multifactor authentication.
After this, when the affected account signs in again, Azure will prompt to set up MFA from scratch and a new working method (Authenticator, SMS, etc.) can be registered.
    2. If there is no other Global Administrator (only one Global Admin, which is locked out)
In this case, tenant access recovery cannot be done from the portal. The issue must be escalated to Microsoft’s Data Protection / Tenant Recovery team via Microsoft Support. That team can verify tenant ownership and reset MFA from their side. The pattern from similar cases is:
      • Contact Microsoft Support by phone using the regional Customer service phone numbers - Microsoft Support entry.
      • Clearly state that this is a tenant lockout scenario:
        • Only one Global Administrator exists.
        • That Global Administrator is locked out due to MFA (Authenticator not working, no other methods).
        • Access to all admin portals is blocked, so a support ticket cannot be created from within the tenant.
      • Ask the frontline agent to open a service request with the Data Protection team for tenant recovery and MFA reset.
The Data Protection team will then follow their verification procedures (business documentation, ownership proof, etc.) and, once satisfied, reset MFA or otherwise restore access so the Global Admin can sign in again and manage billing/subscriptions.

In the specific scenario described (personal account used as Global Admin, no other Global Admins, Authenticator mismatch, no alternative verification options, and ongoing billing), the required next step is to reach Microsoft Support and have the case escalated to the Data Protection / Tenant Recovery team so they can reset MFA and restore access to the tenant.
