Using Classic Outlook on Windows for personal email, calendar, and contact management
In classic Outlook, different features can have different “defaults”:
- Default sending account for new email
This is already set to the Gmail account in the screenshot (it shows “send from this account by default”). To ensure Outlook always uses that account when composing new messages:- Select File > Options > Mail.
- Under Send messages, select Always use the default account when composing new messages.
- Select OK.
- In a new message window, select From above the To line.
- Choose the Gmail account.
- Default account for calendar, reminders, and contacts
These are tied to the default data file/profile, not just the default send account. To move everything to Gmail, create or use a profile where the Gmail data file is the primary store, or remove the AWP account from the current profile so Outlook no longer uses its mailbox as the primary store. After that, Outlook will use the remaining account’s data file (Gmail) for calendar, reminders, and contacts. - Default email account in the profile
To confirm or change which account Outlook treats as the default in this profile:- Select File > Account Settings > Account Settings.
- On the Email tab, select the Gmail account.
- Select Set as Default > Close.
