Hello Philip Lee, We understand that you’re unable to delete an Azure Resource Mover Resource Group (ResourceMoverRG) even though the original source and destination resources no longer exist.

The Resource Group deletion was blocked due to orphaned hidden Resource Mover links/resources that were not visible through the standard portal view. Although the actual resources had already been deleted, stale backend-linked references remained associated with the Resource Mover Group.

Resolution Steps Performed

  • Used advanced discovery tools to expose the hidden/blocked Resource Mover linked resources.
    • This helped identify the remaining orphaned references that were preventing deletion.
  • Navigated to the Resource Mover service directly from the Azure portal homepage.
    • The orphaned Resource Mover link became visible within the Resource Movers application.
  • Selected and deleted the stale Resource Mover link/reference.
    • Although opening the link did not display any active resources, deleting the orphaned link itself completed successfully.
  • After removal of the stale link, the original Resource Mover Resource Group deletion completed successfully without further issues.

The blocking orphaned Resource Mover reference has been removed, and the Resource Group deletion issue is fully resolved.
