Azure for Students sign-up doesn’t depend on choosing a specific Azure region during account creation. The region is selected later when deploying resources.

If Azure for Students sign-up is failing, the documented issues and checks are:

Verify personal details and billing profile
- Sign in to the Microsoft account center and check that:
  - Country/region
  - Name
  - Email
  - Phone number
  - Billing/shipping address are complete and valid.
- When adding any payment method (if required later), ensure the billing address matches bank records.
Check common eligibility and account issues
- If a message such as “We cannot proceed with sign-up due to an issue with your account. Please contact billing support” appears, verify the account information as above and then contact billing support if it persists.
- If “You are not eligible for an Azure subscription” appears, confirm:
  - Profile information (email, address, phone) is correct.
  - Credit card information (if requested) is correct.
  - There is no other Microsoft account using the same details.
- If “Your current account type is not supported” appears, it may be because:
  - The account is in an unmanaged Microsoft Entra directory.
