Unable to update my Display name in Microsoft Learn

Microsoft Learn’s profile name fields use validation rules that can reject certain characters, including some punctuation. When that happens, the only workaround supported in current guidance is to enter a version of the name that fits the allowed pattern.

For Microsoft Learn specifically, the display name can be changed like this:

1. Select the profile icon in the top-right corner of Microsoft Learn.
2. Select Settings.
3. Under Personal info, username, and URL, update the Display name field.
4. Select Save.

If the period after Jr. is blocked by validation, use a variant that omits the period (for example, Marco A. Cartagena Jr) so the profile can be saved. Similar issues have been resolved by slightly adjusting the entered name to meet the validation rules.

If the legal name used for certification needs to include punctuation exactly as on the government ID, update the Legal Name field under Learn settings and, if it is already tied to an exam registration, contact certification support for assistance before changing it.
