A separate Microsoft 365 account is not required for an iPad Pro. A single personal Microsoft 365 subscription (for example, Microsoft 365 Family or Microsoft 365 Personal) can be used across multiple devices, including PCs, Macs, tablets, and phones.

For home use:

• One Microsoft account can have only one active Microsoft 365 subscription at a time.
• With Microsoft 365 Family, the subscription can be installed on all devices and signed in on up to five at the same time, and it can be shared with up to five other people.
• Adding the iPad Pro simply means installing the Office apps (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, or the Microsoft 365 app) from the App Store and signing in with the existing Microsoft account that already has the subscription.

On iPad Pro specifically:

• Basic viewing and limited editing are free.
• A qualifying Microsoft 365 subscription is required to create and edit documents in Word, Excel, and PowerPoint on iPad Pro and to unlock extra features.

No additional annual cost is required just for adding the iPad Pro; the existing subscription covers it, as long as it is active and within the normal sign-in limits.
