Additional calendar-related features and issues within Microsoft Teams for Education
Hi @McIntosh,Angie,
Hope you have a great day.
I know that you are experiencing intermittent stability issues when incorporating Agendas or hyperlinks into your Microsoft Teams Calendar invitations. Specifically, the application displays a "frowny face" error and shuts down the invite window, even though you have already attempted to clear the cache and update the software.
Because the Agenda feature integrates Microsoft Loop components, this error typically points to a failure in the application's internal rendering engine. To help me isolate the cause and provide a more targeted solution, I recommend performing the following three steps:
Step 1: Firstly, try to verify the web environment
Kindly try the same action in the Teams web app using an InPrivate or Incognito window.
- If the issue does not occur there, it suggests the desktop client may be a contributing factor.
- If it occurs in both places, that points more toward a service-side or feature-level problem rather than only the local client.
Step 2: Secondly, repair Microsoft Edge WebView2 runtime
Teams relies on Microsoft Edge WebView2 to render integrated web content, and sometime WebView2 failures as one possible cause of unexpected Teams client exits.
- Go to Windows Settings > Apps > Installed apps, locate Microsoft Edge WebView2 Runtime, choose Modify, and then select Repair.
- If the problem continues, the admin side may also need to review whether antivirus or DLP tools are interfering with Teams or WebView2.
As a temporary workaround, please try opening the agenda directly in Loop and editing it there. If the invite still does not show the agenda correctly, you can create a new Loop page and paste the Loop link into the meeting chat or meeting description so attendees can still access it.
Note: If these steps do not resolve the matter, I recommend contacting your IT department to open a support ticket on your behalf. This will allow a Microsoft support agent to investigate your backend service logs directly and provide a resolution to prevent further interruptions to your workflow. For detailed instructions on how to get support, please refer to Get support - Microsoft 365 admin.
Please keep me updated on the outcome of these steps at your earliest convenience. Thank you for your patience and cooperation as I work to resolve this for you.
