I was unable to receive emails for a few days, and I am not sure why. I know over those few days it wasn't working, I should have received a few emails that I am still not seeing. I have looked in the different folders and haven't found the emails. I looked to make sure there weren't any rules set that would prevent me from seeing the emails. I have the outlook app on my Iphone, use Outlook on google, and also tried downloading the Outlook app on my mac and still not seeing the missed emails. I have tried to re sync, log out and log back in, and update my outlook apps with no luck. I also know that I have plenty of storage so that is not the issue either. I have tried calling, but I havent been able to speak to a real person and haven't been able to find anything online that helps.

Based on the described behavior (no messages for several days across Outlook.com on the web, iPhone app, and Mac app, with storage available and no rules/blocked senders you can see), use these targeted checks that match known Outlook.com causes:

    1. Check Focused/Other and filters
    • In Outlook.com on the web, open the Inbox and:
      • Select Focused and then Other to see if the missing messages landed under Other.
      • Select Filter above the message list and choose All and Sort > Date so no filter or sort order hides older or out‑of‑order mail.
    1. Check Junk Email and rules
    • In Outlook.com:
      • Open the Junk Email folder and look for the missing messages.
        • If any are found, right‑click them and choose Mark as not junk to move them back to Inbox and train the filter.
      • Open Rules settings and confirm there is no Inbox or Sweep rule moving messages to another folder (including unexpected folders like RSS or Archive). If such a rule exists, edit or delete it.
    1. Check Archive and other folders
    • In Outlook.com:
      • Open the Archive folder and verify the messages are not there. If they are, select them and choose Move to > Inbox.
      • Also check any custom folders that might be targets of rules.
    1. Check forwarding and “keep a copy” behavior
    • In Outlook.com settings, review mail forwarding:
      • Confirm whether forwarding is enabled.
      • If forwarding is enabled, verify that the option to keep a copy of forwarded emails in the Outlook.com mailbox is turned on.
        • If this option was turned off, messages would be forwarded to the other address but not kept in Outlook.com, which matches scenarios where mail still arrives at a different provider but not in Outlook.
    1. Check Junk settings and connected apps
    • In Outlook.com:
      • Review Junk Email settings to ensure no safe senders or blocked senders configuration is unintentionally blocking expected mail.
      • If a third‑party mail app or service is connected to the Outlook.com account, ensure it supports modern authentication and IMAP as required. If IMAP or POP are enabled and used by a connected app, try disabling them temporarily to rule out conflicts.
    1. Check recent sign‑in activity and account security
    • Go to the Recent activity page for the Microsoft account and review sign‑ins for the last 30 days.
      • If there is any sign of unusual activity or configuration changes (such as rules or forwarding added without knowledge), follow the guidance there to secure the account and undo unwanted changes.

If, after these checks, the specific days’ messages are not in Inbox, Junk, Archive, or any other folder, and forwarding was set not to keep a copy, those messages will not be recoverable in Outlook.com because they were never stored there. In that case, ask the senders to resend the messages now that forwarding and rules are corrected.
