Follow these steps in Windows 10 to fix no sound in web pages while other apps work:

    1. Confirm the correct output device
      1. Select the Speakers icon on the taskbar.
      2. Select the arrow to open the list of audio devices.
      3. Make sure the headphones (or the device used with the browser) are selected as the active output.
    2. Check hardware and volume controls
      1. Verify the headphone plug is fully inserted and connected to the correct jack/port.
      2. Make sure the device is powered (if applicable).
      3. Ensure the system volume is not muted and is turned up.
    3. Check Volume Mixer and app-specific volume
      1. Right-click the Speakers icon on the taskbar and select Open Volume mixer.
      2. In the Volume Mixer, verify that:
        • The main device is not muted.
        • The browser (Microsoft Edge) is not muted and its volume slider is turned up.
    4. Check sound settings for disabled devices
      1. Select Start > Settings > System > Sound.
      2. Select the output device in use and then Device properties.
      3. Make sure the Disable check box is cleared.
    5. Set the correct default audio device (if using USB/HDMI)
      1. In the search box on the taskbar, type control panel and open it.
      2. Select Hardware and Sound > Sound.
      3. On the Playback tab, right-click the headphones (or desired device), select Set as Default Device, then OK.
    6. Update or reinstall audio drivers (if the above does not help)
      1. In the search box, type device manager and open it.
      2. Expand Sound, video and game controllers.
      3. Right-click the sound card or audio device and select Update driver > Search automatically for drivers.
      4. If no update is found and the issue persists, right-click the device, select Uninstall device, check the option to remove the driver software (if shown), and select Uninstall.
      5. Restart the PC so Windows reinstalls the audio driver.
    7. Run the audio troubleshooter
      1. Select Start > Settings > System.
      2. Select Troubleshoot > Other troubleshooters.
      3. In the Audio section, select Run and follow the prompts.

These steps ensure the correct device is selected, not muted, and properly driven, which is required for sound in browsers such as Microsoft Edge.

    Hi,

Have you checked the volume mixer to see if your browser is muted? Since the issue only happens in your browser, it’s worth making sure it actually has volume access. Try playing any audio or video first, then right-click the volume icon on the bottom-right of your taskbar and open the Volume Mixer. From there, look for your browser and make sure its volume slider isn’t muted and is turned up.

If that doesn’t fix it, have you tried using a different browser to see if you run into the same issue there?
