NSX Upgrade

Hey Jeff—NSX upgrades in AVS are handled as part of your private cloud maintenance window by the Microsoft AVS team. Here’s how it works:

1. You’ll get a notification in Azure Service Health (and via email) when we schedule the NSX-T Data Center upgrade for your private cloud.
2. The Microsoft-managed component (the NSX Cloud Manager on the AVS side) is upgraded centrally by Microsoft. You don’t need to perform the upgrade yourself.
3. If the proposed time doesn’t work for you, you can reschedule directly in the Azure portal under Service Health → Private cloud maintenance, or open an Azure Support request referencing “private cloud maintenance window” to ask for a different slot.

What you’ll see during the window:

• NSX Manager is taken offline briefly for the patch/upgrade. Management plane changes are blocked during that time, but your production workloads continue to run.
• After the maintenance completes, you regain full NSX management-plane access.
