To manage app icons on the Windows 11 taskbar:
Pin (add) an app to the taskbar
- Select the Search box on the taskbar and type the name of the app.
- In the results, right-click the app and select Pin to taskbar.
Or, if the app is already open:
- Right-click its icon on the taskbar.
- Select Pin to taskbar.
Unpin (remove) an app from the taskbar
- Right-click the app icon on the taskbar.
- Select Unpin from taskbar.
Rearrange app icons on the taskbar
- Click and hold an app icon on the taskbar.
- Drag it left or right to the desired position.
- Release the mouse button to drop it in place.
Use Jump Lists from taskbar icons
- Right-click an app icon on the taskbar to open its jump list.
- From there, quickly open recent files or frequently used features.
- To control whether recent items appear in Jump Lists, go to Settings > Personalization > Start and toggle Show recently opened items in Jump Lists on Start or the taskbar.
