I can't find my copilot

Use the following checks to restore Copilot in Word.

1. Confirm the correct account and license
   • In Word, go to File > Account.
   • Ensure the signed-in account is the one that has a Copilot license.
   • For home use, this must be a Microsoft 365 Personal or Family subscription, or Copilot Pro.
   • For business use, this must be Microsoft 365 Business Basic/Standard/Premium, E3, E5, F1, or F3 and a Microsoft 365 Copilot license.
2. Make sure Office is up to date
   • In Word, go to File > Account.
   • Under Product Information, use Update Options to install updates (see Install Office updates).
3. Refresh the Copilot license
   • In Word, go to File > Account.
   • Select Update License.
   • Close all Office apps and reopen Word to see if Copilot reappears.
4. Check the update channel (business users on Windows)
   • In Word, go to File > Account.
   • Under Product Information, check the update channel.
   • If it shows Semi-Annual Enterprise Channel, Copilot features are not available. The device must be moved to Current Channel or Monthly Enterprise Channel by the organization’s IT admin.
   • Until then, Copilot should still be available in the web versions of Word if the license is valid.
5. Verify privacy settings (can hide Copilot)
   • Windows:
     1. In Word, go to File > Account.
     2. Under Account Privacy, select Manage Settings.
     3. Turn on Experiences that analyze your content and All connected experiences.
   • Mac:
     1. Open Word.
     2. Go to Word > Preferences > Privacy.
     3. Turn on Experiences that analyze your content and All connected experiences.
6. If Copilot is still missing
   • Follow the full checklist in How to find and enable missing Copilot button in Microsoft 365 apps.
   • If it remains unavailable, an admin should verify that a supported Copilot license is assigned and that Copilot is not blocked by organizational policy.
