A cloud-based task management app from Microsoft that helps users organize and manage daily tasks across devices.
To get a Microsoft To Do list into Outlook and avoid it “going to an Outlook address” instead of your existing account, ensure that the same Microsoft account is used in both apps and that tasks are syncing via Exchange.
Follow these steps:
- Confirm the correct account in Microsoft To Do
- Open Microsoft To Do (on web, Windows, iOS, or Android).
- Check which account is signed in (for example, a personal Outlook.com address vs. a work/school Microsoft 365 account).
- This is the account whose task list will appear in Outlook.
- Use the same account in Outlook
- In Outlook (desktop or Outlook.com), make sure the same Microsoft account is added and set as the mailbox being used.
- To Do and Outlook Tasks share the same task store on Exchange Online, so they must use the same account for lists to match.
- Access the To Do lists in Outlook
- In Outlook, open the To Do view (for example, select To Do in the left navigation or open the Tasks/To Do pane, depending on the Outlook version).
- The tasks from Microsoft To Do will appear automatically because they are stored on Exchange Online servers.
- If using mobile
- Install Microsoft To Do on Android or iOS.
- Sign in with the same Microsoft account used in Outlook.
- Tasks will sync automatically between To Do and Outlook.
If a different Outlook.com address appears, it usually means To Do is signed in with one account and Outlook with another. Sign out of To Do and sign back in with the same account used in Outlook, or add the correct account in Outlook and use that mailbox.
