Word File and CAPILOT

Copilot in Word does not use a “credits” system when used as part of Microsoft 365; it is included as a feature based on the license and app version, not per‑use credits.

To use Copilot directly inside Word (Edit with Copilot/Agent Mode), these conditions must be met:

1. Have an eligible license
   • One of the following is required for full in‑document editing with Copilot:
     • Microsoft 365 Copilot (for Organizations)
     • Microsoft 365 Premium (for Individuals)
     • Microsoft 365 Personal, Family, or Premium (coming soon for Edit with Copilot/Agent Mode)
2. Use a supported Word app and channel
   • Sign in to Word with the Copilot‑enabled account.
   • Make sure Word is on a supported channel/version:
     • For early access (while features roll out):
       • Join the Microsoft 365 Insider program and use Beta Channel or Current Channel (Preview) for Word on Windows or Mac.
       • Or join the Frontier program where applicable.
3. Turn on and access Copilot in Word
   • In Word, look for the Copilot button on the Home tab or in the sidebar.
   • To use in‑document editing:
     • In the Copilot pane, select Tools > Edit with Copilot (or Agent mode in earlier wording).
     • Type a clear request, for example: “Summarize this document” or “Rewrite this section more formally.”
   • Copilot then edits, refines, and formats content directly in the document using Word’s styles.
4. If Edit with Copilot/Agent Mode is missing
   • It may still be rolling out.
   • Verify:
     • The account has a qualifying Copilot license.
     • The device is on the correct Insider/Frontier preview channel if early access is needed.
   • If enterprise‑managed, contact the organization’s IT admin or Microsoft account representative for licensing or access questions.

Once enabled, Copilot in Word works as an integrated feature; usage is governed by the subscription, not by running out of a separate credit balance.
