AZ-104 is a role-based certification (Microsoft Certified: Azure Administrator Associate), so it must be renewed periodically.

To renew AZ-104:

1. Wait until the certification is within six months of its expiration date.
   • The renewal assessment is only available in this six-month window; it cannot be renewed earlier.
2. Sign in to the Microsoft Learn profile used for the certification.
   • Go to the profile avatar → Profile → Certifications.
   • Look for a blue Renew button next to the Azure Administrator Associate certification.
3. Take the free online renewal assessment on Microsoft Learn.
   • This is the only way to renew a Microsoft Certification.
   • The assessment is shorter than the original exam and focuses on updates to the skills.
   • It can be retaken unlimited times, but it must be passed before the certification expires.
4. After passing the assessment, the new expiration date is updated immediately on the Microsoft Learn profile.

If the certification has already expired, it cannot be renewed and the full exam must be passed again to regain the certification.
