    Hi SASWATA RANJAN DASH,

Thank you for sharing the details of your Windows 7 boot issue. The symptoms you described often occur when a previous hibernation or startup process was interrupted. In many cases, the system simply needs help completing that process or repairing the boot configuration.

In addition to Q&A Assist's response, you can try these extra recommended steps:

    1, Run Dell Diagnostics

    • Restart the laptop, press F12, and choose Diagnostics to confirm whether the hard drive or other hardware components are working correctly before continuing.

2, If Startup Repair cannot resolve the issue, open Command Prompt from the repair menu and run:

    bootrec /fixmbr
    bootrec /fixboot
    bootrec /rebuildbcd

3, If Windows starts successfully afterward, install KB974431.

    • Microsoft states that update KB974431 helps prevent this Windows 7 hibernation/startup problem from happening again

Please also note that Windows 7 has reached the end of support since January 14, 2020, for your reference: https://learn.microsoft.com/en-us/troubleshoot/windows-client/windows-7-eos-faq/windows-7-end-support-faq-general

The behavior matches a known Windows 7 hibernation/boot issue.

To get the laptop to start again:

    1. Boot from Windows media
      • Use a Windows 7 (or Windows Vista / Windows Server 2008) installation DVD, or a Windows 7 Windows PE (preinstallation) disc.
      • Power on the laptop and immediately use F12 (Boot Menu) to choose the DVD/USB drive as the boot device.
    2. Start Windows normally from the media
      • When the Windows Setup screen appears, choose the language/time/keyboard options and continue until the option to “Repair your computer” or to start Windows is available.
      • Use the option that allows starting the installed Windows 7 in normal mode (not setup). This lets the system complete the interrupted hibernation/boot sequence.
    3. After Windows starts, install the stability update
      • To prevent the problem from happening again, install update 974431 for Windows 7, which improves stability and reliability.

If the system still fails to boot and shows only a black screen, repeat the boot from DVD/USB and use the repair options (Startup Repair) to restore bootability.
