Troubleshooting website display or functionality issues in Edge on Windows 11
The page content that was open two weeks ago in Microsoft Edge cannot be recovered if Edge has already discarded the tab and its cached data.
Edge automatically saves temporary internet files (cache) only to speed up page loading. This cache is not designed as a permanent backup of a page. When a tab is suspended or discarded to save resources, or when cache is cleared or expires, those temporary files can be removed. Once removed, Edge cannot “rewind” to that exact old version of the page.
Available options now:
- Try loading the site online
- If there is an internet connection, open Edge and go again to the mdpr.jp URL. The site will load the current version from the internet, not the old one.
- Check if browsing data was kept
- In Edge, go to Settings and more (⋯) > History > Open history page.
- If the mdpr.jp entry is still in history, it can be opened, but it will still show only the current live page, not the old cached copy.
- Verify that browsing data wasn’t cleared
- If Delete browsing data was used with Cached images and files selected, the old cached copy is already removed and cannot be restored from Edge.
- Use proper saving methods in the future
- To keep an exact copy of a page for later offline use, use one of these instead of relying on cache:
- Save the page as a file (for example, Save as in Edge).
- Take screenshots of the important content.
- Copy and paste the text into a document.

If Edge itself is unstable or discarding tabs too aggressively, the general troubleshooting steps are:
- Close other tabs, extensions, and apps to free memory.
- Make sure Edge is up to date: Settings and more > Settings > About Microsoft Edge.
- Restart the computer and try again.
- If problems continue, repair Edge:
- Close Edge.
- Go to Start > Settings > Apps > Installed apps.
- Select Microsoft Edge > Modify > Repair.
These steps can improve Edge’s stability, but they will not bring back a specific old cached version of a page that has already been discarded.
