For Microsoft Learn profiles, the display name and the legal name for exams are managed in different places.
- To change the public display name on Microsoft Learn:
- Select the profile icon in the upper-right corner of Microsoft Learn.
- Select Settings.
- Under Personal info, username, and URL, update the display name (for example: first name, last name order or spelling).
- Select Save.
This updates the name shown on the public profile, certificates, and transcripts.
- To correct the legal name used for certification/assessment registration (for example, GH‑300) when it was entered incorrectly and is now locked:
- Go to the Microsoft Credentials support page for help with certification profile and legal name issues: https://learn.microsoft.com/en-us/credentials/support/help
- Open a support request and explain that the legal name was entered incorrectly and can no longer be edited after sign‑in.
- Provide the correct legal name exactly as on the ID (for example: First name: LI WEN, Last name: WANG) and any required documentation if support asks for it.
Only support can unlock or correct the legal name field once it is frozen for exam/proctoring purposes.
If the issue is specifically that the legal name was duplicated or entered incorrectly and the proctor already blocked an exam attempt, support must update the legal name before scheduling or retaking the assessment.
