I am locked out of my personal Azure account and need help resetting MFA.

Account: pii removed (personal Microsoft account)

I am the only Global Administrator on this tenant.

The problem:

  • After changing my phone, I lost the Microsoft Authenticator configuration for Azure.
  • I reinstalled and reconfigured the Authenticator app via account.live.com/proofs/manage.
  • The Authenticator app generates an 8-digit code (personal account format), but the Azure Portal login only accepts 6 digits in the code field.
  • Push notifications do not arrive when I choose "Approve a request in my Microsoft Authenticator app".
  • "Sign in another way" only shows the same two options (Authenticator app or verification code) - no SMS or email option is available.
  • Two-step verification is DISABLED on my personal Microsoft account, but Azure still requires MFA.
  • I linked my GitHub account (RodrigoTecmovel) to my Microsoft account, but Azure still asks for the Authenticator code.
  • I can sign in to other Microsoft services (Outlook, account.microsoft.com) without any issues. The problem is ONLY with Azure Portal.

Steps I have already tried:

  1. Removed and re-added the account in Microsoft Authenticator multiple times
  2. Uninstalled and reinstalled Microsoft Authenticator
  3. Reconfigured the app via account.live.com security settings with new QR code
  4. Tried all available "sign in another way" options
  5. Linked GitHub credentials to my Microsoft account

This appears to be a tenant lockout scenario. I am requesting that the Data Protection team reset my Azure MFA so I can reconfigure it properly.

Thank you for your help.
