The extract text feature that comes with editing pictures in Microsoft power point does not extract text in Gujarati. What should i do to extract text in Gujarati?

If PowerPoint is not picking up Gujarati, I’d stop using that feature and switch to a workflow that’s more likely to work. A reasonable workaround is OneNote: it supports OCR on pictures, and you can use Copy Text from Picture after inserting the image. OCR may take a while to become available on some images.

Another practical option is the Microsoft 365 mobile app. Its Deep-scan can read text in images, translate it, and then let you copy or share the result.

If you specifically need Gujarati OCR, it is recommended that a Gujarati-focused OCR tool like Pramukh OCR or Gujarati Typing OCR be used, because they explicitly list Gujarati support. Also, crop the image tightly, keep it straight, and use a clear, high-contrast image first, that usually gives much better OCR results.

The built‑in “extract text”/OCR features in Microsoft 365 and PowerPoint only work for languages that are supported by the underlying OCR/ink recognition engines. Gujarati is an Indic script, and support is limited or not available in several Office text‑recognition features.

From the available information:

Office text/encoding support for Gujarati exists (for storing and displaying text) via ISCII 57010, but this does not imply that OCR or “picture to text” in PowerPoint supports Gujarati.
Ink and OCR features in Office and Windows only work for languages for which an OCR language pack or recognition support exists. If Gujarati is not in the supported OCR list, the picture‑text extraction in PowerPoint will not recognize it.

To confirm and work around this:

Check Windows OCR language support
