A Microsoft file hosting and synchronization service.
On OneDrive for Android, a personal account and a work or school account are handled separately in the same app. The app can show the same profile photo and similar email-style addresses, but the account type and storage are determined by how the account is added and what service it belongs to.
To get the work OneDrive (with 2 TB) working on Android and avoid using the personal OneDrive:
- Add the work account explicitly in the OneDrive app
- Open the OneDrive app on Android.
- Tap the profile picture or account icon.
- Tap Add account.
- Sign in with the work account credentials (the Microsoft 365 account that has the 2 TB OneDrive for work or school).
- If prompted, follow any organization-specific steps. Some organizations require installing OneDrive in a Work Profile from Google Play; in that case, sign-in may complete automatically after installing in the Work Profile.
- Switch to the correct account
- In the OneDrive app, tap the profile picture or icon again.
- Under the list of accounts, tap the work or school account so it becomes the active OneDrive.
- Confirm that the storage shown now matches the work account (larger quota) and that work files appear there.
- Stop using the personal OneDrive in the app
Since only one personal OneDrive account is allowed in the app, but multiple work or school accounts are supported, keep the work account and either:
- Leave the personal account unused, or
- Remove it from the app by signing out of that personal account if the app offers that option under the profile/account settings.
- If the app is still behaving incorrectly
If the app keeps mixing data or not launching/syncing correctly even after adding the work account:
- Open Android Settings > Applications.
- Scroll down and select OneDrive.
- Select Storage, then tap Clear data and Clear cache.
- Go back, tap Force Stop.
- Uninstall OneDrive.
- Reinstall OneDrive from Google Play and repeat step 1 to add only the work account first.
Note that the OneDrive app itself does not delete or merge Microsoft accounts; it only connects to them. Deleting a personal Microsoft account or moving files between personal and work OneDrive requires account and data management outside the Android app, which is not covered in the provided material.
