People have been getting hacked by these Russian domains for over 5+ years now and Microsoft every time just tells you YOUR OUT OF LUCK. even though when you talk to support they say they have a team and form to fill out just for this VERY REASON. i want to disclose i definitely could've been safer on the internet but you would ASSUME if you've owned this account for over 12+ years, it wouldn't be that hard to call someone up at MS and prove your the original owner. i mean, just look at valve, i got my account stolen a couple years ago and i submitted a ticket, provided information IE. payment info, past usernames, things that would give clue that I've owned this account for YEARS. and after some time they concluded my account was stolen and they GAVE IT BACK. (Edit- Microsoft seems to be one of the few companies who just wont try to give your account back, epic is working on recovering my account, Roblox let me get all 3 my accounts back, Instagram could tell i was being hacked and sent a notification to my phone to change passwords//log out everywhere and Valve didn't even let them BREATHE near my account)

MS claims they cannot just give the account back because that goes against privacy terms but how come no flags went off when all in one day (not just my account keep in mind) 100's of 1000's of accounts are being mass transferred from Gmails,Hotmails, yahhoo, ect to a "Rambler(.)Ru" domain, a domain that is well known for phishing and malware.

i know the REAL reason you guys did me like tame impala and told me to let it happen. you WANT me to buy OneDrive again, you NEED me to buy Minecraft again, you REQUIRE me to spend more because when we get hacked its a net gain for you and i genuinely hate that i have to do this because migrating OS's is a pain regardless of what your moving to but i genuinely cannot trust Microsoft with my data, or access to my pc because they will gladly hand it over to some random shmuck in Russia using a VPN to hide in Brazil (OBVIOUS RED FLAGS BUT HEY THEY'RE THE MULTI MILLION DOLLAR TECH COMPANY AND NOT ME ) like genuinely it makes no sense, these companies spy on you invasively and sell your data to brokers and have access to info like where your logging in from every day, what ISP you use, but cant use that data for "safety reasons" to conclude maybe i didn't teleport to Russia for a day and transfer ownership of all my stuff to Russian domains after YEARS of consecutively logging in from only 2 states in America, That would be preposterous. i love that in this email microsofts first two concerns are "buy mincraft and onedrive again" not maybe that someone now has full control over the account that is linked to my pc and laptop, not that maybe the hacker has access to all my private data, its the money 😭😂User's image

you can see in this screenshot actually i googled/went to reddit about Rambler,ru and both google and reddit are logged saying its unsafe from over 5 years ago. please do better Microsoft, i mean not like it matters you already lost my business

For a Microsoft consumer account that has been fully taken over and whose security info (email/phone and authenticator) has been replaced by an attacker, Microsoft support is limited to the official hacked‑account and recovery workflows. If those fail, the account and its data (including OneDrive and purchased licenses such as Minecraft) cannot be restored.

From the documentation and moderator guidance:

    1. When a Microsoft account is hacked, the supported path is:
      • First clean the device with an up‑to‑date antivirus and run a full scan.
      • Then follow the hacked/compromised account guide to change/reset the password and review account settings such as connected accounts, forwarding, and automatic replies.
      • If sign‑in is no longer possible, use the Microsoft account recovery form (ACSR) and provide as much historical information as possible.
    2. If the attacker has already changed the account’s security information and the recovery form does not succeed, Microsoft support and forum moderators state there is no alternative manual override. Even engineers cannot bypass the security model or decrypt/reassign the account’s data once ownership signals and security info have been replaced. In that case:
      • The account is treated as unrecoverable.
      • OneDrive files tied to that identity are no longer accessible.
      • Games and subscriptions (for example Minecraft) associated with that account cannot be moved; new purchases on a new account are required.
    3. The reason given is compliance with the Microsoft Services Agreement and privacy safeguards: support agents are not allowed to forcibly transfer control of an account based only on narrative or documents outside the automated verification signals, because that could wrongly hand an account to someone who is not the legitimate owner.
    4. For future protection of any new or existing accounts, Microsoft’s guidance is to:
      • Keep Windows updated and use built‑in protection such as Windows Defender, with regular full scans.
      • Add alternate email addresses and mobile phone numbers as security info so recovery is easier if the account is compromised.
      • Regularly review recent account activity at the activity page to spot unusual sign‑ins quickly.
      • Follow the steps in the hacked‑account article immediately at the first sign of suspicious activity, before an attacker can replace security info.

There is no documented escalation path beyond these automated processes for consumer accounts once security info has been changed and recovery attempts have failed.
