To check that PowerPoint for Mac is up to date and to address possible corruption, follow these steps in order:

1. Check for the latest Office updates (Mac)
   Keeping Office current fixes many stability and layout issues.
   • Open any Office app (Word, Excel, or PowerPoint if it opens).
   • On the menu bar, select Help > Check for Updates.
   • Install any important, recommended, or optional updates that are offered.
   • Restart the Mac and test PowerPoint again.
2. Test whether the issue is with the user profile or background apps
   Corrupted user data or interfering background programs can cause layout and behavior problems.
   • Create a new macOS user account, sign in, and start PowerPoint there. If PowerPoint behaves normally, the problem is in the original user profile.
