Hello,

I do not need anything about this old tenant, but I enabled the pay as you go option in azure and I cannot anyway enter the portal or any other related endpoint as I get the following:

Error message: interaction_required: AADSTS5000225: This tenant has been blocked due to inactivity. To learn more about tenant lifecycle policies, see https://aka.ms/TenantLifecycle Trace ID: df22c6db-4d53-499b-9280-58ec0d340a00 Correlation ID: 019d49ef-4164-7ebf-8afe-3059552bdd50 Timestamp: 2026-04-01 16:45:10Z

so I just would like to start fresh, basically.

this should be tagged for azure portal login

The error AADSTS5000225: This tenant has been blocked due to inactivity means the Microsoft Entra tenant is in an inactive, blocked state as part of the tenant lifecycle. In this state, sign-in to the tenant (including Azure portal and related endpoints) is blocked.

Key points from the tenant lifecycle behavior:

    • When a tenant is marked inactive, sign-in attempts return AADSTS5000225 and the tenant becomes inaccessible.
    • Administrators can request reactivation only within 20 days of the tenant entering the inactive state. After 20 days in this blocked state, the tenant is permanently deleted and cannot be recovered.

Because the goal is to “start fresh” and there is no need for anything in the old tenant:

    1. If the tenant has been blocked for less than 20 days and access is needed (for example, to close out or review anything before starting over), the tenant administrator must contact Microsoft support and request reactivation:
      • Use the global support phone numbers listed in the documentation.
      • Do not open multiple support cases for the same issue; wait for the decision on the first case.
    2. If the tenant has been blocked for more than 20 days, it will be deleted automatically after the 20‑day period and cannot be recovered. In that case, simply wait for deletion to complete and then use or create a different tenant for the new, “fresh” environment.
    3. For starting fresh immediately, without using the old tenant at all, create or use another Microsoft Entra tenant (for example, via the Entra admin center’s “Manage tenants” → create new tenant) and associate new Azure subscriptions with that tenant instead of the blocked one.

If the old tenant is not needed, no further action is required on it beyond optionally confirming with Microsoft support whether it is within the 20‑day reactivation window or already on track for deletion.
