I had to play around with it several times.
Changed the picture, changed from Picture
to Spotlight and finally it showed.
Keep trying.

hi,
The Windows spotlight image is still missing in the Dev channel builds. Anyone have it yet? No fixes by Microsoft yet.

It rebuilds the Spotlight application completely (folders and files). First turn to picture, enter command, reboot and then turn back to spotlight. If you dive in windows explorer you will see it rebuilds the feature.
Yes, I'm impacted with the bug that affects Spotlight in the combination with a local account and OneDrive.

2026-04-03T06:48:04.34+00:00 The command will work with a Microsoft account. In case of a local account with OneDrive, Spotlight will also be rebuilt but will stop working after some time due to the bug. In your case, you won't have that problem.

and then switch it to Spotlight. You can tell when
the picture changes to a Spotlight picture in Settings.

C. Denninger 5 Reputation points2026-09-04T08:26:44.1166667+00:00 Since the July/August 2026 Windows 11 (Dutch) system update Spotlight (in Windows lock-screen) works again.
Note: I did not test the Windows background and I expect Microsoft not to fix this bug in Windows 10.So it wasn't the use of a local account, nor corruption of an account nor several other things and steps in these posts. In short: It wasn't us. It was indeed a bug in Microsoft's programming and they finally fixed it!
