Updating the last name used for identity verification depends on which Microsoft profile is involved.

For Microsoft Learn (certifications and exams):

    1. Legal Name is used for exam identity verification and must match the government ID.
    2. Changing Legal Name after exam registration requires Microsoft support approval.
    3. Use the official certification support channel to request a correction to the Legal Name so it matches “Acharla” on the government ID.

Follow the guidance in the certification support article to open a support request and ask specifically for a Legal Name correction from “Narayanappa” to “Acharla.”

For Microsoft Entra ID / Microsoft 365 account (name shown in apps like Outlook, Teams, etc.):

    1. Name fields (First name, Last name, Display name) are managed in Microsoft Entra ID.
    2. These fields should reflect the user’s preferred/actual name and are used across Microsoft 365.
    3. In many organizations, these values are controlled by HR or IT and may be synced from an HR system.
    4. If self-service edit is blocked or overwritten, contact the organization’s IT or HR department and request that the last name be updated to “Acharla” so it matches the government ID.

If the profile is in Outlook on the web or Teams:

    • Some fields (like name and job title) are also controlled by IT/HR. Use the profile page to change what is editable, and contact the admin/HR if the last name cannot be changed directly.
