Copilot can be used in classic Outlook for Windows as long as the account and apps are correctly licensed and updated.

    1. Confirm the Microsoft 365 subscription includes Copilot:
      • For home use: Microsoft 365 Personal or Family with Copilot Pro.
      • For business use: Microsoft 365 Business Basic, Business Standard, Business Premium, E3, E5, F1, or F3 plus Microsoft 365 Copilot.
      • Ensure the account signed into Outlook is the one with the Copilot license.
    2. Make sure Office apps (including classic Outlook) are on the latest build:
    3. Refresh the Copilot license in a Microsoft 365 app:
      • Open any Microsoft 365 app (for example, Word or Outlook).
      • Go to File > Account.
      • Select Update License.
      • Close and restart Outlook and other Microsoft 365 apps.
    4. Use Copilot in classic Outlook:
      • In classic Outlook for Windows, Copilot chat is available from the Copilot icon in the left app bar. This opens the Copilot chat experience directly in Outlook.
      • When composing a new email (Home > New Mail > Mail), select the Copilot icon on the toolbar and choose Coaching by Copilot to get suggestions on tone, clarity, and reader sentiment.

If Copilot still does not appear after confirming licensing, updating, and refreshing the license, wait for feature rollout in the tenant or device environment, as availability can depend on subscription and deployment stage.
