I understand your concern seeing your mouse looking different from one you used before and cannot be registered. However, before getting further, there's something I need to clarify:
There is no supported Microsoft process to authenticate accessories using serial/PID numbers alone. In addition, this is a user-to-user support forum limited to technical issue. Moderators, contributors, including external Microsoft staff, cannot validate whether a device is counterfeit based on numbers posted publicly (it will be deleted).
Microsoft Sculpt Ergonomic Mouse is part of legacy PC accessories lineup and cannot be registered with Microsoft accounts like newer accessories. To reasonably assess the mouse's legibility, here are some checks you can perform:
- Check detection in Mouse and Keyboard Center 3.0 | Official Microsoft Download Center
- Connect the mouse using its USB receiver and run with the application
- If the device is detected, it's likely a genuine Microsoft's product.
- Verify packaging and model labeling, contact the seller or retailer and request rechecks.
If you believe it may be counterfeit, gather photos of the packaging, device and request your seller for a refund/replacement.
