It's really hard to login to partner center: https://partner.microsoft.com/en-us/dashboard/home

First issue is that it used to be called Developer Dashboard. Then it was renamed to something like Windows Dev Center. Now it's called Partner Center.

Except, when you search on google dev dashboard still exists in some form, windows dev center exists in some form, except when you try to login to those, you get some kind of Azure/Office365 error.

Worse is that every sign in now asks you to create a pass key, but if you don't and you cancel, you get what looks like an error, but you can sign in with your password anyway after clicking cancel to the error message.

Can you please fix the naming for Windows developers to upload their app to the Windows Store and UX for logging in so that it's not so dang confusing?

Partner Center has replaced the older portals (such as the former Dev Center/Developer Dashboard) as the single place to manage Windows apps and other Microsoft programs. Older entry points and names can still appear in search results, but sign-in is now centralized through Partner Center and Microsoft account/Microsoft Entra ID.

For sign-in issues and confusing experiences:

    1. Use the current Partner Center entry point
      • Go directly to Partner Center and sign in there rather than via legacy Dev Center/Windows Dev Center URLs, which can lead to redirects or errors.
    2. Confirm the correct account and directory
      • Work and personal accounts can share the same email address format (for example, ******@contoso.com) but be different identities. If signed in but not seeing expected Windows/Store capabilities, switch to the correct work account or directory as described in the sign-in troubleshooting guidance.
      • If redirected to a generic “Resources for partners” or directory page, use the account/directory selector (badge icon) to choose the directory and account that actually has Partner Center/Windows Store access.
    3. Clear cached sign-in state if the portal behaves inconsistently
      • If the browser hangs, shows errors, or loops/redirects when signing in, clear cookies and cached data for the browser and try again, or use an InPrivate/Incognito session. This helps when old Dev Center/Partner Center cookies conflict with the current sign-in flow.
    4. Handle repeated security prompts (passkeys/MFA)
      • Partner Center uses Microsoft account security features, including additional verification and newer sign-in methods. When prompted for extra verification (such as security codes or passkeys), complete the verification or designate frequently used PCs as trusted devices to reduce prompts. Security info and trusted devices can be managed at the Microsoft account security page.
    5. If sign-in or access still fails
      • Use the official sign-in troubleshooting guidance for Partner Center to confirm credentials and account roles, and if needed, create a support ticket (including when unable to sign in) so support can review the specific tenant/account configuration and any legacy Dev Center mappings.

These steps do not change the naming or UX, but they are the supported ways to stabilize sign-in and ensure the correct account and directory are used for Windows Store app management in the current Partner Center environment.
