What does automate do in Excel for Mac -Preferences - general?

Where are you seeing this? Automate is a Tab on the Ribbon which is for the purpose of using scripts to automate tasks. I've seen no reference to it in the Excel Preferences.

Please elaborate on your concern & include the present Version Number of your Office software as well as the type of License. Both version & type of license are indicated in Excel> About Microsoft Excel.

It was an online suggestion from Microsoft to cure the 'hang/ freeze' issue in my excel for Mac program. I could not find it on the ribbon , hence my query. Your response advises I need not concern myself with it. Merci.
