How to reinstate the disabled account

2026-03-27T11:03:56.1633333+00:00

My account was flagged during a threshold billing check; however, I now have a fully valid and active payment instrument ready to be linked. Is it possible for azure to manually reactivate my current subscription once the new card is verified?

I tried to contact azure, unfortunately I couldn't speak to a human telephonically. I tried online support, I am not getting assistance.

Because the subscription was disabled during a billing/threshold check, the only way to reinstate it is to resolve the billing issue and then let the standard reactivation process complete. Manual reactivation by support is only possible in specific cases and still requires the billing block to be cleared.

    Follow these steps:

    1. Update/verify the payment method
Since there is now a valid card, make sure it is correctly added and set as the primary payment method for the billing account. Use the steps in Add, update, or remove a credit card referenced from:
Add, update, or remove a credit card.
    2. Resolve any past-due or threshold-related issue
      • If the subscription is disabled because of a past-due bill, follow the guidance in Resolve past due balance for your Azure subscription after getting an email from Azure or How to pay your bill for Microsoft Azure, depending on the subscription type.
      • If the card was declined during a threshold billing authorization, once the new card is added and valid, Azure should stop blocking usage. If the authorization continues to fail, update the card again or contact the bank to ensure the card allows online/recurring/cloud charges.
    3. Wait for automatic reactivation
After the past-due balance is paid and the billing issue is cleared, Azure can take up to 24 hours to reactivate the subscription. During this time, manual reactivation is not required and generally not possible from the portal.
    4. If the subscription was canceled by the account administrator
If the subscription is a pay-as-you-go type that was canceled (not just disabled), it can be reactivated directly in the Azure portal:
      • Sign in to the Azure portal.
      • Go to Subscriptions → select the canceled subscription.
      • Select Reactivate.
    5. If the billing account itself is blocked
When a billing account is blocked, new subscriptions cannot be added and existing ones may be affected. In that case, only Microsoft support or the appropriate partner/account manager can unblock it:
      • If the subscription was bought directly from Microsoft, use the official support channel described in Keep your Microsoft business billing account active / Keep your Microsoft business billing account active (Azure) to contact support.
      • If purchased via a partner or enterprise agreement, contact the partner or account manager.
    6. Escalate via official support if the subscription stays disabled
If the invoice is paid, the card is valid, more than 24 hours have passed, and the subscription is still disabled, open a billing/support request from the Azure portal using the documented support entry points (for example, the Help + support blade). For cases where the portal blocks ticket creation or the subscription remains disabled despite payment, the guidance is to contact Azure support directly as indicated in the billing and subscription troubleshooting articles.

Note: Community forums and Q&A cannot manually reactivate subscriptions or override billing flags; only the Azure Billing/Support team can do that after the billing issue is resolved.
