Follow these steps to improve stability when casting from a Windows 10 PC so the connection does not drop:
- Confirm Miracast support and Wi‑Fi
- Select Start > type Connect > open the Connect app. The text will indicate whether the Windows 10 device supports Miracast.
- Select the Network icon on the taskbar and make sure Wi‑Fi is turned on.
- Verify the projector and adapter
- Make sure the projector supports Miracast and that its wireless display feature is turned on.
- If the projector does not support Miracast natively, use a Miracast adapter (dongle) plugged into its HDMI port and ensure it is powered and on the correct input.
- Install and configure Wireless Display (if projecting to a PC)
If projecting to another Windows PC instead of a projector:
- On the target PC, go to Start > Settings > System > Projecting to this PC.
- Under Add the “Wireless Display” optional feature to project to this PC, select Optional features.
- Select Add a feature, search for wireless display, check Wireless Display, then select Install.
- After installation, return to Projecting to this PC and configure discovery and security options.
- Update drivers and firmware
- Update display, Wi‑Fi, and graphics drivers from the PC or device manufacturer.
- Check the projector or Miracast adapter manufacturer’s site or app (if available in Microsoft Store) for firmware updates.
- Reconnect the wireless display
- Press Windows logo key + K.
- Select the projector from the list to connect.
- If disconnects continue, remove and re-add the device:
- Open Settings > Bluetooth & devices > Devices.
- Under Wireless displays & docks, select the projector or adapter and choose Remove device.
- Then reconnect again using Windows logo key + K.
- Reduce interference and distance
- Move the PC closer to the projector or adapter (ideally within about 7 m / 23 ft).
- Keep the adapter and projector away from sources of radio interference such as microwave ovens and some cordless phones.
- Restart devices
- Restart the PC.
- Power‑cycle the projector and any Miracast adapter.
If the connection still drops after these steps, test with another Miracast display or adapter to determine whether the issue is with the PC or the projector/adapter.
