Hi Virgil Nichols,
I’m sorry you’re having trouble changing the desktop photo on your Windows 10 PC.
To help narrow this down a bit, could you let me know:
- Are you trying to set one of your own photos, or a built-in Windows background?
- What happens when you try to change it, does nothing happen, does it switch back, or is the option unavailable?
- Is this a personal PC or a work/school-managed device?
In the meantime, please try these checks:
- Try setting the picture from the image itself
- Open the folder where the photo is saved, right-click the image, and choose Set as desktop background.
- Make sure the photo is saved locally on the PC
- If the picture is coming from email, a browser, OneDrive, or another app, save it first into a local folder such as Pictures, then try again.
- Check if the background setting is available
- Go to Start > Settings > Personalization > Background and see whether the background options are available there.
While my initial response may not fully resolve the issue, I truly appreciate your cooperation as we work together toward identifying the most effective solution. Thank you so much for your understanding.
I hope the suggestions above help you change your desktop background without any trouble. Wishing you a smooth and pleasant experience customizing your Windows 10 PC.
