To cancel an MSN Premium subscription that was purchased from Microsoft, cancellation must be done through the Microsoft account’s Services & subscriptions page. If the Billing or Manage links are not working, use these steps and checks:
- Go to the Subscriptions/Services page and sign in with the same Microsoft account that was used to buy MSN Premium:
- Subscriptions
- Make sure the correct Microsoft personal account is used (not a work or school account).
- Locate the MSN Premium subscription and select Manage:
- If Manage is visible, select it.
- If instead it shows Turn on recurring billing, this means the subscription is already set to expire on the date shown and will not renew; in that case, no further action is needed and it will stop after that date.
- On the Manage page, select Cancel (or Upgrade or Cancel, depending on how it is labeled), then scroll through and follow the on-screen instructions to complete cancellation.
- If the page does not respond or links do not work:
- Confirm that there are no overdue amounts on the payment method; if money is owed, cancellation is blocked until the balance is paid. For more help on payment methods, see Change the payment method for a Microsoft subscription from the cancellation article.
- Try another browser or device to access https://account.microsoft.com/services and repeat steps 1–3.
- If the subscription was purchased through a third party (for example, Google Play or Apple App Store), cancellation must be done through that provider’s billing support, not directly through Microsoft:
- For Google Play purchases, see Learn about Google Play refund policies.
- For Apple App Store purchases, request a refund from Apple support.
- If none of the above works and the subscription still cannot be cancelled online, use Microsoft’s guided support for subscription issues and billing/cancellation help:
- From the cancellation article, use the guided support link (Start) to be routed to the appropriate support option.
If a refund is needed after cancellation, eligibility depends on the subscription and region. First cancel the subscription as above, then use the refund guidance in the refund article to check eligibility and request a refund if applicable.
