Dear all

When recording lectures on my macOS device, I consistently experience noticeable lag when using the laser pointer or pen in PowerPoint. This issue essentially makes lecture recording unusable for me. Could you please help me resolve it?

How to reproduce the problem

  • Start recording a presentation.
  • Press Cmd + L to enable the laser pointer (or press Option + Left mouse button).
  • For about one second, the laser pointer moves smoothly.
  • After that, the movement becomes jerky for several seconds.
  • Only after around five seconds does it become smooth again—briefly—before the lag returns.

This jerky motion is also visible in the exported MP4 recording.

System details

  • macOS 26.3.1 (Tahoe)
  • PowerPoint 16.106.3 (26030211)
