To move or recover a Microsoft Certification profile when access to the old work account is lost, support must be engaged through the official credentials support channels. Certification Support can validate identity and help with profile and account issues; direct access to personal account data is not available here.
Take these steps:
- Go to the Credentials Support page and open a support request under the Microsoft Certifications area.
- In the support form, provide:
- Full legal name (as it appeared on the certification profile)
- Old work email address (now disabled)
- Current personal Microsoft account email
- Exam IDs, certification names, and approximate dates (if known)
- Follow any additional verification steps requested by the support team so they can locate the old profile and advise on consolidating or updating it.
If the issue involves access to a Microsoft Learn profile (where certifications and achievements are surfaced), and the old login was a personal Microsoft account that can no longer be accessed or recovered, note that:
- Access to a Learn profile requires at least one valid login account.
- Microsoft Credentials Support cannot recover or transfer the contents of a Learn profile tied to a personal Microsoft account that cannot be accessed.
- Recovery of personal Microsoft accounts is only available through the Microsoft Account self-service flows referenced in the Learn profile guidance.
For all other certification-related issues (including profile merges, incorrect mapping, or name corrections), work directly with Credentials Support as the escalation path.
