I was using my Bluetooth headphones with my computer and music, videos, and system sounds were coming through just fine on my headphones, and then I jumped onto a Teams call, and there was so much static I couldn't hear a thing. When I changed to wired earbuds, the sound was fine. These headphones were fine with Teams before, and they're still currently fine with everything else.

Disabling the Bluetooth Device (RFCOMM Protocol TDI) worked for me but I agree this is not a local issue.
Dear @Kevin McCoy, @Stephen Williams, and @Marcella,
Since this issue has been experienced by many users and appears to impact the organization as a whole, rather than being isolated to a single device or user account, I recommend that you reach out to your IT administrator so they can formally report the issue to Microsoft. Your IT admin will be able to validate whether this is related to a known service issue, recent update, or configuration change at the tenant level.
If possible, your IT administrator should create a support ticket through the Microsoft 365 Admin Center. Submitting a ticket allows Microsoft Support to review tenant‑level diagnostics, confirm whether this is a known issue, and provide guidance or updates if the issue is under investigation. For reference: Get support | Microsoft Docs
Escalating the issue through the admin channel is the most effective way to ensure it receives proper visibility and follow‑up from Microsoft.
Note: Please understand that as a forum moderator, my role is to provide general guidance and troubleshooting support. I don’t have access to internal systems or backend tools, and I appreciate your understanding of these limits.
I hope the information shared helps point you in the right direction. Please try the steps above and let me know if they work. Thank you for your patience and understanding. I'm looking forward for your reply.
Our company and allot of users with our customers have the same problem. You need to fix this with an update. This is not acceptable! This is has turn in to a global problem..
My job upgraded my laptop, and I'm now using Windows 11 Enterprise. My Bose NC 700 headphones worked perfectly with Teams before. Since the upgrade, I can listen to music, PowerPoint, and other media without issues, but on Teams, I hear only static. My IT department asked me to reconnect the headphones, reinstall Teams, and disable the Bluetooth LE Enumerator, but nothing has helped. I continue to get static. Now, I use a cheap wired headset for all Teams calls and switch to my Bose headphones for everything else.
Same issue recently manifest for me a few days ago. Seems to distort all audio while in a Teams, Zoom, Slack meeting.
I spend much of my day in online meetings so this is more than mildly annoying.
Initially thought it was a specific Bluetooth headset, so I brought two others in today, differing make/models, same issue. Then it hit my coworker today, who had recently gone through the effort of applying Windows and Dell updates. My temporary fix is to use a mic other than the one on my bluetooth headset (e.g. laptop built-in mic or mic on the USB camera) and use the headset only as a speaker.
~~I found a fix that appears to be working, for now.
Using Device manager I surveyed everything under "Bluetooth" looking for a driver date that indicated it was recently updated. I found nearly all the drivers were dated 6/21/2006 (this is a new Dell Pro Max MC16250, so somewhat surprising). However, the driver for Intel(R) Wireless Bluetooth(R) was dated December 2025 (don't recall the exact date). I did a Roll Back Driver operation on that driver and it rolled back to a driver dated 7/20/2025 and restarted the computer... and the problem appears to be gone now.
~~Added a more complete description of the solution as an answer.
I have had the same issue using Dell Pro Max 16 MC16250, rolled back the drivers as above and resolved the issue, I have been contacting Dell as there seams to be a pattern, with this issue and Dell Promax machines.
Dell have not been that helpful, and there best suggestion being the re-install the OS. which i didn't want to do, due to the amount of data and software which would need to be installed.
Disapointing and the Dell Promax isnt a simple machine and is the flagship laptop model,
mine is only a few months old and i would not have expected to have such an issue.
Lets hope a so;ution is found and this has been a frustrating fault as i am reliant on my laptop and the use of MS teams for my daily job.
Thank you Tyler Bennett for your solution, It worked for me.
@Carl Powell my guess is that it's bug in the latest driver for the wireless card Intel Wi-Fi 7 BE201
I have the same issue. It's a major problem as I'm hearing impaired and need the headphones to follow calls. If so many people are having the same issue, then it's a Microsoft issue, and not a "ask your tech guy to solve" issue. We pay enough for this program--please fix this!
It seems like rolling back the driver is the most common fix as mentioned it worked for me, It would be interesting for every one to include what machine PC or laptop the issue is with,
I had this with a Dell Promax, which there does seam to be a pattern there, I have raised a ticket with MS 365, but if this is predomantly with Dell I suggest that a support ticket is raised with them aswell, might speed up the fix.
RESOLVED
We had multiple users hit the same Bluetooth issue on Dell Pro Max 14 MC14250 laptops, all Intune‑managed, where company policy blocks rolling back drivers, which made this extra annoying to deal with. I kept an eye on Dell’s support page and noticed they recently updated the default Bluetooth driver (Intel BE2xx / AX4xx / AX2xx / 9xxx Bluetooth Driver) to version 23.160.0.9, A49. That turned out to be the fix. What worked was downloading that driver first, then going into Device Manager, expanding Bluetooth, right‑clicking Intel(R) Wireless Bluetooth(R), choosing Uninstall device, and making sure to check the box to attempt to remove the driver. After that, I restarted the device (important: restart, not shutdown), installed the driver I had already downloaded from Dell, and once it came back up Bluetooth was working normally again. This worked even with Intune in place and no ability to roll back drivers, and it resolved the issue across the affected devices. You will need admin rights on the device.
My Company is also running into the same issue and it is spreading... like a virus throughout the company one person at a time with bluetooth headphones.... It then crashes their audio and they have to restart their computer.
This is not fixed. we've rolled back the drivers, uninstalled audio and Bluetooth devices, checked bios, ran troubleshooting, Even called Dell for support. We've tried airpods, Jabra headsets and earbuds. Still the same issue. We cannot waste our time with all these troubleshooting steps every day. Why has Microsoft not addressed this issue? This is occurring with multiple people and wasting our time. We have no issue with external USB Bluetooth or Jabra dongles.
Dear Customers,
Thank you for your feedback and I truly appreciate your effort. I have seen that many users also reported this issue. In this case, to ensure the issue is properly tracked and escalated, I recommend contacting your IT administrator and asking them to report the issue through the Microsoft 365 Admin Center. Submitting the report this way allows Microsoft Support to investigate it in the correct tenant context and route it to the appropriate product team. For reference: How to check Microsoft 365 service health
If possible, I recommend that IT Admin create a support ticket with Microsoft through the Microsoft 365 Admin Center, as this allows Microsoft Support to review tenant‑level diagnostics and determine whether the issue is already under investigation or requires further escalation. For now, it may be necessary to wait for an official fix or further update from Microsoft. If I receive any updates, guidance, or confirmation of a resolution from Microsoft, I will reach out to you as soon as possible to share the latest information.
I hope this information is helpful. Thank you for your patience and understanding.
We're not having an issue with USB bluetooth. So it's something with your internal drivers on some computers. We tired rolling back the driver and even disabling the RFCOMM Protocol TDI but all that does is disable the mic. We thought it was the drivers but the issue persists after a clean install of windows and dell approved drivers. We have issues with Jabra headsets, Sony Headphones and apple airpods. The static is persistent and this is still a major issue.
Dear @uyro125,
In your case, it may require deeper investigation at the system or service level and the most effective and reliable approach is to report the issue directly to Microsoft so their support engineers can analyze it using backend diagnostics and logs that are not accessible from the end-user side.
I strongly recommend creating a support ticket with Microsoft Support as soon as possible. You can do this through the Microsoft 365 Admin Center (if you have admin access) as this allows Microsoft Support to review tenant‑level diagnostics and determine whether the issue is already under investigation or requires further escalation. This problem has just reappeared for me - it seams like the driver is being provided via Sentinel One and forced to the 2025/12/18 version with no rollback option any more.
Roling back drivers fixed it for me.
Rolling back drivers to 24.0.1 (https://www.intel.de/content/www/de/de/download/18649/870633/intel-wireless-bluetooth-drivers-for-windows-10-and-windows-11.html) worked, but is no sustainable solution. The operating system might auto update to the "defective" drivers automatically.
I assume the root defect is located in Teams since other applications worked with the latest 24.30.1 drivers.
