Using the New Outlook for Mac for personal email and calendar
In Outlook for Mac, Teams integration is built in and controlled by the account type and a Teams/Skype toggle in the event window.
To add a Teams link when scheduling in Outlook for Mac:
- In Outlook, switch to Calendar.
- Select New Event.
- Fill in the event details (title, attendees, date/time, location).
- In the event window, turn on the Teams Meeting toggle (or Skype Meeting, depending on what is available in the organization).
- Select Save. The Teams join information is added to the invite when it is sent.
Important conditions and checks:
- The account in Outlook must be an Office 365 / Exchange / Outlook.com account. Online meetings are not supported for IMAP or POP accounts, so the Teams toggle will not appear for those.
- If the organization uses Microsoft Teams, the add-in is installed automatically; no separate installation is needed.
- For Mac, Teams meetings created from Outlook appear via this integration; there is no separate classic add-in UI like on Windows.
If the Teams toggle is missing for a supported account:
- Confirm the Outlook profile is using an Office 365/Exchange/Outlook.com mailbox, not IMAP/POP.
- Confirm the account has a Microsoft 365 subscription that includes Teams and that the same work/school account is used in both Outlook and Teams.
- Close Outlook, quit Teams completely, then start Teams and sign in, and then reopen Outlook so the integration can reinitialize.
Regarding Outlook calendar meetings not appearing in Teams:
- Teams surfaces meetings that are online (Teams/Skype) meetings from an Exchange/Office 365 calendar. If meetings are created on an IMAP/POP calendar or without the Teams Meeting toggle enabled, they will not show as Teams meetings in the Teams calendar.
- Ensure new meetings are created on the Exchange/Office 365 calendar in Outlook and that the Teams Meeting toggle is turned on so they sync and appear in Teams.
